The other side of St Clair's

Not a drop of water can be seen but the author is standing in the middle of the Kothmale reservoir next to what used to be a bridge. The old Kothmale town is no more it disappeared when the waters rose but only broken bits of masonry emerge when the water receded.

The flow of the Kothmale Oya (river) dries down to a trickle during the dry season. The loss of forest cover caused by this and other hydro power projects are partly to blame. What then is the logic of building yet another hydro power project a few kilometers upstream?
